A curvy miss becomes first runner-up in Italy!

This is a first, and it caused a lot of ink to flow in Italy and all over the world: a 22-year-old young woman with shapes (size 42) presented herself at the Miss Italy contest and came first runner-up!

Her name is Paola Torrente, and we probably haven't finished hearing about her. She is 1.80 meters tall and is considered "plus size" because of her size 42 and her voluptuous shapes. At the Miss Italy pageant, she amazed everyone, the juries as well as the spectators, who voted for her en masse. On the whole contest, 3 young girls stood out from the crowd (in the sense that they did not correspond to the beauty criteria in force for Miss Italy) and she ranked among the 5 finalists.

This engineering student, passionate about fashion and singing managed to swing the votes in her favor by remaining natural and smiling. It is his spontaneous and assumed side that has pleased Italy.

If her ranking is commendable and we can only congratulate Italy for having as first runner-up a miss "curvy" (that's how she defines herself), she was not exactly unanimous among our neighbors across the Alps, and the Italian press was not gentle with her.

If some daily newspapers congratulated the young woman, attributing to her the place of "moral victor", and praising the action taken by the Miss Italy committee to integrate "curvy" women into the contest, others saw it only as a "politically correct" election.

Some even go very far :

"Of course, you can also be beautiful and attractive with a few extra pounds. But Miss Italy is not the girl from next door. Miss Italy must make you dream," comments Il Giornalo for his part after having bluntly stated that this final, with a Paola "compressed in an improbable high-cut body" is simply "unpleasant to watch." "If I don't like this buttock overflowing with a too tight bodysuit, should I confess it to the shrink? Or to the priest? Hypocrisy breeds ridicule. Don't touch Miss Italy, therefore: we want them to be beautiful to go crazy, and without feeling guilty," even adds the author of the article.

Degrading words for the young woman, but who doesn't seem to care, she who is very comfortable with her brand new notoriety ... It is true that we are talking about her for a good cause, and to remind that there is no feminine ideal, and that a woman can make you dream with all the sizes that exist.
