5 Well Kept Princess Diana Secrets You've Probably Never Heard Of

Much has been said and written about Princess Diana's style, but she never ceases to amaze us, even today. It turns out she was keeping a number of secrets that not many people know about, and some of them are quite uncommon. For example, Diana used a special technique to make her tiaras match her hair, she had a collection of "cleavage bags" that protected her reputation, and she rarely wore gloves (for good reason).

At MotivationalFearless.com, we've carefully studied Lady Di's photographic archives and found five fashion tips that made her style unique and unconventional for a royal in her day.

Tiaras naturally matched her hair

As a member of the British royal family, Princess Diana had to wear tiaras quite often. She had found a clever solution to make the tiaras look natural on her head. She used ribbons that matched the color of her hair and wrapped them around the bottom of her tiaras. You can see a preview in the photo above.

She wore pantyhose to brighten up her royal outfits

Instead of choosing neutral-colored tights, Diana often wore matching tights to her outfits, which made them look more interesting. She also liked more daring models. For example, she sometimes wore pantyhose with thin black vertical lines on the back, which ended in quirky little ribbons just above her shoes.

She hid her cleavage with pockets

If one takes a closer look at the photos of Princess Diana attending events, one notices that she often clutched her clutches to her chest when getting out of cars. Being one of the most photographed people in the world, the Princess of Wales didn't want unflattering photos ending up in newspapers and celebrity magazines. She used small bags to cover her breasts when she wore dresses with a plunging neckline, and they even took the name of "neckline bags".

She hardly ever wore gloves

Lady Di often used her wardrobe to convey important messages and influence how people perceived her. For example, she did not wear gloves to greet people, a real departure from royal protocol. She liked to create carnal, genuine contact with people when she shook their hands, so she ditched the gloves for more direct contact.

She launched jewelry trends

Princess Diana was a trendsetter in many fields, including fashion. For example, the photo above shows her wearing a ring on her little finger long before it became fashionable.
Diana took a fashion risk by opting for an open-back velvet dress with voluminous sleeves to celebrate a movie launch. But the boldest part of this look was a long pearl necklace that ran down her bare back. Since then, many celebrities and fashion lovers have appropriated this outfit.
The world started going crazy for personalized necklaces after seeing Carrie Bradshaw wearing a necklace with the "Carrie" pendant. But Diana had started this trend long before Carrie by wearing a pendant with the letter D. This little jewel was particularly flattering around her neck.
