Only 25 kilos for the thinnest woman in the world

The thinnest person in the world is indeed a sad record having been successively held by several people, men and women, around the world. The state of their morphology is very often referred to as being the consequence of an overly rigorous diet, chronic starvation, bulimia or many other ailments. Focus on the thinnest woman in the world and the reasons for her unusual weight loss.

Valeria Levitin, the thinnest woman in the world

Of Russian origin, Valeria Levitin is a 45-year-old anorexic who weighs only 25 kilos, a body mass less than half the norm for a woman of her size. This makes her the thinnest woman in the world. Valeria has developed an eating disorder since her teenage years. When she was only 16, her parents decided to move to Chicago, USA. To cope with the stress of entering a new school in a foreign country, the teenager thinks that by becoming thin, she would be more beautiful and more easily accepted in her new school community.

Thus began the story of Valeria Levitin who began to deprive herself of food to change her appearance. His ambition from the age of 20 to make a career in modeling did not help him too much either. The casting directors found her overweight in order to be able to find a place for herself in the profession. Valeria therefore deprived herself more and more of food, to the point that already at the age of 24 she weighed no more than 36 kg. Today, she owes her condition and her status as the thinnest woman to this disease which literally ruined her life.

Thinnest woman, an unfortunate record for Valeria

Valeria Levitin today regrets her morbid fascination with extreme thinness. Indeed, the state of the forties prevents her from realizing her wish to start a family. What is worrying is that she still receives messages from many women who consider her an inspiration and want to be like her. Therefore, Valeria Levitin campaigns against anorexia in order to save young girls from the disastrous interest they have in thinness.

Lizzie Velásquez, one of Valeria's direct competitors

Elizabeth Ann " Lizzie " Velásquez is a 28-year-old American. She suffers from a rare congenital disease, one of the symptoms of which is the inability to accumulate body fat. At 23, she weighed just 28 kilos and has to eat on average every 20 minutes – 60 meals a day – to survive. She was born 4 weeks earlier and weighed barely 1 kilo.

Lizzie for a long time held the record for the thinnest woman in the world. Indeed, it happens between Valeria and her. Lizzie is a conference presenter, author and graduate in communication studies. Also, she was named the most ugly woman in the world in 2015.
