How to successfully stick to your sports routine?
TO RESIST THE LAZY AND GIVE YOURSELF FULLY AND SUSTAINABLY IN A SPORTS ROUTINE? THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION TO OBTAIN RESULTS AND IMPROVE YOUR HYGIENE OF LIFE. OUR ADVICE TO KEEP ALL YOUR MOTIVATION.
Between the laziness, the results that are slow in coming and the benefits that we don't necessarily feel... we would be tempted to give up and say goodbye to the sports routine that would allow us to achieve our goals. Mistake ! To take advantage of all the benefits of sport but also appreciate 'visible' results on your body, there is only one recipe: regularity! The problem is that it is often difficult to impose such discipline. In her latest book, "The Bellysculpting method for a flatter stomach"*, sports coach Anaïs Jazmine delivers her "10 anti-woman tips" tips for keeping your sports resolutions.
The dilemma ? How to maintain discipline and motivation in continuity, without giving in to laziness and without feeling guilty at the slightest deviation?
Plan your shopping to avoid laziness
This is not new: food is inseparable from sport as soon as you want to take a minimum care of your lifestyle. And yet, while we strive to eat a balanced diet, we don't always think about planning our shopping. "By doing your shopping in advance and visualizing your meals of the week, you will be less confronted with the temptation of ordering quickly and unnecessary calories". It's also a very good way to know exactly and precisely what you have on your plate! We take the opportunity to limit as much as possible ultra-processed foods and fast dishes that are not necessarily adapted to our healthy lifestyle.
Impose a sports schedule to stay regular
"Having a sports schedule is essential to anchor yourself in a routine", explains the coach at the origin of the Belly Sculpting method. Depending on your schedule, you set the days and times when you can do your sports session. And we stick to it! "Once your days are ticked off, it will be easier to refuse the glass of white wine on the terrace at 7 p.m.: "I can't, I have sport!"".
Find the sport that's right for you
If it seems incongruous for the less athletic, there is necessarily a sport in which we could flourish! "Some people have never been able to persevere for lack of interest in classic disciplines (CrossFit, yoga, Pilates, gym, indoor, cycling, swimming pool, etc.), notes Anaïs Jazmine. My advice is to take your time to choose the method you need to stay motivated".
Set a goal and remember it
The perfect body, who cares! No need to aim for the flat stomachs of retouched models or the toned arms of our niece's girlfriends (especially since each vision of the perfect body is unique). What matters ? It is our well-being! "To do this, I advise you to set a goal: put back those hot jeans you wore last summer, find a firmer silhouette, lose those two extra pounds... It doesn't matter, your goal is only up to you. and will only motivate you".
Do not (too much) think to stay motivated
It may seem laughable and yet, it is enough to try to adhere to it. Before you start your workout, "don't think about the rainy weather, or your mismatched sock problem, or your 10 a.m. meeting. Be brave and don't listen to yourself." Once at the foot of the wall, all that remains is to give your all!
Plan your sports bag to avoid skipping sessions
"Prepare your outfit and a small bag in advance with all your essential accessories (water bottle, hygiene products, protein bar, etc.)", advises the coach. In this way, we avoid so many reasons to motivate ourselves or excuses that could help us to 'skip' a sports session. "Organization is the key to a diligent routine."
It is better to do a short sports session than not to do any sport
"Better a little sport every day than a lot of sport from time to time", explains Anaïs Jazmine who advises to restrict yourself "a minimum of 15 minutes a day". Once again, it's re-gu-la-ri-ty that counts... not outstanding performance; and that, streak running enthusiasts have understood!
Set yourself a reminder to successfully stick to your sports routine
"At the beginning, sport will not be your first instinct, I am aware of that... I therefore advise you to think of activating a reminder to help you not to forget your Pilates session at 8:15 a.m. The reminder is also a great way to get motivated right from the start."
Reward yourself to motivate yourself to exercise
Every effort deserves its reward, right? And this is necessarily valid as far as sport is concerned. Obviously, you will feel a certain pride in having completed your session - and that is already a reward in itself - but you can also reward yourself a little more by allowing yourself a little pleasure! And that's the whole concept of the cheat meal - much appreciated by great athletes -, a break during which you allow yourself a lot of excess, just to take a break from a stricter food routine. . "It's a way to stimulate your pleasure hormones and reward yourself."
Invest to boost your motivation for sport
"If you invest a little money, you will be much more determined to return this investment and to motivate you", explains the sports coach. Obviously the idea is not to break your PEL to buy pro equipment but by spending a little money to afford a nice sports outfit or a pair of basketball shoes adapted to our sporting activity, we should increase your motivation at the idea of putting them on...
