What is the difference between a friend and a comrade

Have you ever heard this quote from Pierre de Ronsard, who says: “Happy you will have countless friendships; But goodbye friends, if the weather gets dark "?

I did not know this quote; but while researching another topic I came across this one and it prompted me to write an article on it.

What do you think a friend is?

Perhaps you have not yet dwelled on the question; but I think if one does not even know the definition of this word then reading this article is futile. To better understand, I would first define two terms: friend and companion.

The difference between friend and comrade

According to the dictionary, a friend is a person with whom one is united by mutual affection. Rather, a comrade is a person who loves one thing.

According to Pierre de Ronsard's quote, he presents friends in two ways: when we are happy and when we are in problems (dark times).

The two classes it presents here are normal; because most of the time our friends increase according to how happy we are (this often coincides with our income; when they are a lot) and decrease very quickly when we are in problems (illnesses, bereavement, loss of work, accident, debt to to reimburse). I don't know if you have ever had the sad experience of going through these two phases. If you have been through it, then you understand better what I am talking about; but otherwise that's good and reading the rest will help you get to know your friends better.

I have classified his groups into two categories which are: friends and companions. In the following, I will introduce you to the characteristics of a true friend, so that you can draw conclusions about who your friends are and who your companions are.

According to Ciceraut, "a safe friend reveals himself in adversity." When there is no problem, everyone we hang out with and hang out with is mixed up in the basket of friends + companions. In this basket, all are the same color and unless we use other techniques to find out who our true friends are, we will not know who we can count on when we have problems. On the other hand, once we fall into adversity, this is where we really find those who can help us. Don't be surprised to find that in most cases, those we thought we could count on in times of distress end up being the first to let us down. These are companions or comrades.

The second point to consider is this quote from Casimir Perier who says: "A friend is someone who we can always count on to count on us". Now that we have learned who our friends are and who our companions were, we must ask ourselves if we are friends or companions to them.

A friend knows he can count on us: at all times and whatever the problem is and that is true of the previous quote. Imagine that you are having financial problems and a friend comes to your aid and thanks to him you come back up the slope and manage to get you out. Soon after, he also goes bankrupt and when you find out about his situation, you ignore having heard of it. Do you think you are a friend to him?

That is what brings me to this last quote. It is from the Duke of La Rochefoucauld, he says: "a true friend is the greatest good of all goods and of all that which one least dreams of acquiring". Learn how to be a true friend first, then differentiate among your acquaintances who are your friends and who are companions. Now that you have real friends, treat them as important possessions because they really are. They are the ones who will be near to everything for you; so do not disappoint them.
