How to take inspiration from great leaders to take action?
12-step policy plans no longer inspire anyone. Today, there are leaders who inspire us and leaders who are there to represent authority.
Simon Sinek is an optimist who believes in a better future for humanity. For this, he invites us to question our why - the why. We are all searching for meaning in an often uncertain world. In this article, we are going to ask ourselves 3 questions:
What is the point of giving importance to the why?
How to use the "Golden Circle" for yourself?
Why rally people with the same convictions as you?
What is the point of giving importance to the why?
With a little discipline, any leader or organization can inspire us. But, it is necessary to distinguish between a leader and a leader.
A few years ago, Apple had only 6% of the computer market in the United States, and 3% of the world market. Yes, Apple was not dominating its market. However, this company was already inspiring.
Why ? Because it started by asking why it was created.
If we look now at the employee side. Studies show that more than 80% of Americans do not feel fulfilled at work. Unfortunately, the United States is not an isolated case. There is only to see the craze in France for certain support programs like SWITCH COLLECTIVE, to help them to question themselves.
If some leaders took the time to understand how to build an inspiring business, perhaps they could reverse this finding. People who are happy to get up every morning to go to work are much more productive and creative.
Ultimately, most large companies don't really know why their employees are their employees. And it's the same pattern for their customers. From this observation, how can we then be able to attract and retain new customers?
Manipulation: short-term vision
There are only two ways to influence human behavior: manipulate or inspire.
Manipulation in the broad sense can be expressed in different ways:
The price: When the consumer has been used to paying a price below the market, it is then very complicated to make them pay more for the same service.
Fear: This is one of the most effective manipulations. If the consumer does not use your product, he is at risk.
Peer pressure: It works because the consumer may be afraid of missing something.
New: Innovation changes the course of an industry. The Uber and Airbnb models have changed their respective markets. But adding a camera to a phone is nothing new. Making people believe in innovation does not have a lasting impact on its sales.
You will succeed in influencing them but never in retaining them. This manipulation can attract some customers but the most difficult will be to retain them.
Simon Sinek gives a very clear definition of loyalty:
We talk about loyalty when people are ready to refuse better products at better prices to continue doing business with you. The most loyal will never see the competition.
It's this feeling of "sharing the same vision, the same values" between your customers and the company that creates long-term relationships.
Why is Apple doing so well against its competitors? It’s a software and hardware company like Microsoft, Samsung and others. However, these companies have access to the same technologies, the same talents and the same media.
Why did the Wright brothers make the first human space flight when so many others had more human and financial resources?
Behind these two success models, there are inspiring people who were able to communicate their vision and the why of all their actions. What they managed to produce is just an illustration of their vision.

Why, how and what?
